| Objectives of the Society |

1. To provide day care and education for the severely mentally disabled children and youths,
aged 2 to 19 years who belong to one of more of the following categories:-
(i) those who are mentally handicapped but can still respond to skill
training in the use of legs, hands and jaws;
(ii) those who are mentally handicapped but can still profit from systematic
habit training;
(iii) those who are mentally handicapped but can still learn simple
communication skill, basic health and safety habits, simple manual skills
and perhaps some basic reading and arithmetic skills;
(iv) to those who are mentally handicapped but with additional handicaps
such as physical impairment and /or serious personal / social problems.
2. To promote and stimulate research concerning severely mentally handicapped persons
and to develop locally appropriate methods of treatment, education and vocational training.
3. To develop a better public understanding of the needs of those with severe mental
retardation with special reference to parents and guardians of such children.
4. To solicit funds subject to prior approval of the Competent Authority and to acquire
properly for the accomplishment of the above purpose.
